Modified Real McTube Sound Clips

Last updated 7/23/04

The soundclips below were recorded directly into my Zoom 9030 to add just a touch of reverb, the output of which goes to my Bulldog speaker cabinet simulator and finally to my computer sound card. These were originally recorded in .wav format and then converted to .mp3 format using a program called dBpowerAMP. I tried to find the best compromise between file size and sound quality and I didn't normalize the soundclips when converting them to .mp3 format because I wanted to keep as much of the original dynamics as possible. The clips were recorded in one sitting with my Ibanez S470-FM H/S/H electric. The pickup positions are generally either the neck or bridge humbuckers, and on some clips I switch between pickups to hear how changing the pickups affects the tone. My guitar with a DIY FET on-board preamp installed produces even more drive than the soundclips below.

The settings shown below are likened to something like telling the time on a clock, or at least where the hour hand would be pointing. As shown below, 7:00 indicates control fully counter-clockwise. 12:00 indicates control straight up and 5:00 indicates control fully clockwise.
